The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, made a sharp comment on an article in the British tabloid The Times, which accuses Russia of an attempt on the life of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. In his article, columnist and correspondent for the publication in Bratislava, Peter Conradi, stated that Russia was behind the assassination attempt.
Zakharova in her statement noted that this accusation is “an attack of madness” and added with irony that she was waiting for who would be the first to utter the sacramental “Russians Did It.” According to her, such statements are devoid of common sense and have no basis in evidence. She also emphasized that it is not safe to trust information from such sources.
Slovak officials note that this high-profile case is currently under investigation.
