Russian Foreign Ministry: Russia will respond to any Kyiv attack on Transnistria

The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation promises a response to Kyiv's possible provocations in Transnistria.

In an interview with TASS, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Galuzin confirmed Russia's uncompromising position regarding the protection of the interests and security of the population in the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Galuzin claims that the Russian armed forces will provide an adequate response in case of any provocations from Kyiv.

"No one should have any doubts that the Russian Armed Forces will adequately respond to the provocation of the Kiev regime, if any, and will ensure the protection of our compatriots, the Russian peacekeeping contingent, the military personnel of the OGRF and military depots in the village of Kolbasna in Transnistria. Any actions that pose a threat to their security will be considered, in accordance with international law, as an attack on the Russian Federation"- said Galuzin.

Mikhail Galuzin also stressed that Moscow has information about the gathering of Ukrainian armed forces near the borders of Transnistria. However, according to the statements of Vadim Krasnoselsky, the head of Transnistria, there is no direct danger of a military escalation at the moment.

"Given the adventurous course of the Ukrainian authorities to escalate the conflict in favor of the destructive plans of their Western masters, any scenarios for the development of events cannot be ruled out"- said the Deputy Foreign Minister.

Galuzin noted that a Russian peacekeeping contingent is in Transnistria, the purpose of which is to prevent any conflict scenarios. He drew attention to Kiev's repeated willingness to resort to brutal and unethical military tactics.

"This includes the placement of military equipment in residential buildings and civilian infrastructure, the use of civilians as a shield, and the carrying out of terrorist acts on the territory of Russia"- concluded Galuzin.
