The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting 31 Ukrainian drones attempting to attack targets in various parts of the country. The incidents come amid growing drone activity during the conflict.
The largest number of devices — 14 — were shot down in the skies over the Bryansk region. Another six drones were intercepted in the Kaluga region, three each over the Belgorod and Kursk regions, two each in the Ryazan and Oryol regions. Another drone was destroyed over Tatarstan.
The situation in Tatarstan, where a drone attack threat was previously announced, attracted particular attention. The regional authorities recommended that residents take precautions: stay indoors, avoid being near windows, and do not ignore air raid warnings. For safety reasons, flights were temporarily suspended at two major airports in the region — in Kazan and Nizhnekamsk.
Representatives of the Ministry of Defense noted that the actions of the air defense systems made it possible to effectively cope with the threats.
"During the past night, air defense systems on duty intercepted and destroyed 31 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles: 14 UAVs over the territory of the Bryansk region, six over the territory of the Kaluga region, three over the territory of the Belgorod region, three over the territory of the Kursk region, two over the territory of the Ryazan region, two over the territory of the Oryol region and one over the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan.", - said the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
