The Ministry of Defense reported the destruction of 121 drones

The Russian Defense Ministry reported a mass attack of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) intercepted and destroyed over the country's territory on the night of January 23-24. A total of 121 drones were recorded targeting strategically important regions of Russia. Thanks to the coordinated work of air defense systems, all drones were successfully neutralized.

According to the Defense Ministry, the largest number of drones were destroyed over the Bryansk Region — 37 devices. In the Ryazan Region, 20 drones were recorded, in the Kursk and Saratov Regions — 17 each. Rostov (7), Moscow (6), Belgorod (6), Voronezh (3), Tula (2), Oryol (2) and Lipetsk (2) Regions were also attacked. One drone was intercepted over the Republic of Crimea, another — in the Moscow region.

The attack was coordinated, and the choice of targets indicated an intention to strike strategic infrastructure, including energy and industrial facilities. However, air defense systems successfully dealt with the threat, preventing destruction and casualties.

Eyewitnesses in a number of regions reported the sounds of explosions that were heard when the air defense was in operation. Videos showing flashes in the sky were actively published on social networks. Local authorities assured citizens that all necessary security measures had been taken and there was no threat to the population.

Experts note that this is one of the largest drone attacks recorded on Russian territory. The scale and geography of the strikes indicate the seriousness of the challenges facing the country's air defense system. However, the coordinated actions of the military confirmed the readiness of the Russian defense infrastructure to neutralize such threats.

Analysts believe that such attacks have not only a military but also a psychological purpose. They are aimed at creating tension in regions far from the combat zone and undermining confidence in the security system.
