The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that during the past night from 23:00 PM on December 14 to 7:00 AM on December 15, air defense alert systems intercepted and destroyed 130 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the aircraft type. This large-scale operation covered numerous regions of Russia, indicating a major recent attack attempt from Ukraine. According to the department, the distribution of downed drones is as follows: 38 UAVs over the Astrakhan region, 25 over the Bryansk region, 25 over the Moscow region (including 15 drones flying towards Moscow), 8 over the Belgorod region, 8 over the Rostov region, 8 over the Kaluga region, 6 over the Tula region, 4 over the Republic of Kalmykia, 3 over the Kursk region, 3 over the Oryol region, 1 over the Ryazan region, and 1 over the Caspian Sea.

This nighttime operation follows previous overnight attacks, including incidents in Rostov-on-Don, Kashira, and Moscow, where dozens of drones were previously shot down. Residents of many regions, particularly border and central areas, reported the sounds of explosions and air defense activity, confirming the intensity of the shelling. Emergency services are working at the debris impact sites, and so far there have been no reports of casualties or significant damage, although a fire and damage to homes were reported in Rostov.
