The Ministry of Defense reported the destruction of 50 Ukrainian drones on the night of February 14

On the night of February 14, 2025, Russian air defense systems repelled a series of attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the southern regions of the country. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, 50 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed: 41 over the Belgorod Region, 5 over the Voronezh Region, and 4 over the Rostov Region.

At the same time, in Krasnodar Krai, according to information from the regional operational headquarters, an air target was hit at night, which led to a fire in dry grass in the Slavyansk-na-Kubani area. There were no official reports from the Russian Defense Ministry about this attack.

These incidents occur against the backdrop of increasingly frequent drone attacks on Russian regions. On February 3, 2025, it was reported that 70 Ukrainian UAVs were intercepted over six Russian regions, including Rostov, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Voronezh, Belgorod and Kursk. The largest number of drones — 27 — were destroyed over Rostov Oblast.

In addition, on February 8, 2025, in the Slavyansky District of the Krasnodar Territory, debris from downed drones damaged five residential buildings, breaking windows and damaging roofs. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

The increase in drone attacks is causing concern among residents of the southern regions of Russia. Local authorities and security forces are taking measures to strengthen air defense and ensure public safety. Regional governors regularly inform citizens about the measures being taken and call for calm.

Experts note that the use of drones in modern conflicts is becoming increasingly common. UAVs are used for reconnaissance, strikes on military and infrastructure facilities, and for psychological impact on the enemy. In this regard, the need to improve air defense systems and develop new technologies to counter drone attacks is increasing.
