The Russian Defense Ministry has launched an investigation into the deaths of servicemen with the call signs "Ernest" and "Goodwin"

Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the death of two servicemen with the call signs "Ernest" and "Goodwin." For this purpose, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov was instructed to clarify the situation together with the FSB counterintelligence and verify the accusations made by the deceased soldiers against the command.

Earlier, a video message from soldiers of the 87th regiment with the call signs “Ernest” and “Goodwin” appeared on social networks, in which they accused the command of their unit of serious violations.

In the recording, the soldiers expressed their concern and dissatisfaction with the actions of the command, however, at the end of the video, they said with a smile that they were ready to carry out the order, despite its consequences. After some time, a message appeared about the death of both soldiers.

The incident has caused a wide public outcry, as well as attention from the military leadership. The Ministry of Defense not only initiated an investigation, but also stated the need to verify the facts voiced by the deceased. Of particular interest is the question of the transfer of fighters who had previously been involved in controlling unmanned aerial vehicles to the assault group. Sources close to the situation claim that the regiment did not have units involved in UAVs, which makes the statements of "Ernest" and "Goodwin" even more confusing.
