On July 24, 2023, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that during the night of July 23-24, air defense forces destroyed 28 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the country's territory. Of these, 14 were shot down over the Kursk region, two in the Moscow region, one each over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Smolensk, Oryol regions, and four over the Ryazan region, the department's Telegram channel clarified.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that two drones were shot down in the Moscow region at around 06:00 and 06:10 Moscow time, preventing possible attacks on infrastructure. In Krasnogorsk, debris from one of the UAVs hit a residential building on Narodnogo Opolcheniya Street, causing a fire on the 17th floor. Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov reported that two people were injured: a 34-year-old man received shrapnel wounds to his arm and leg, and a pregnant woman was hospitalized due to an acute stress reaction. The 20 square meter fire was extinguished, about 100 residents were evacuated, including 30 children. The facade and glazing on the 16th and 17th floors were damaged, there were no casualties.
