During the ceasefire declared in honor of the 81st anniversary of Victory Day and extended at the initiative of US President Donald Trump until May 11, Ukrainian armed forces violated the ceasefire 8970 times, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

According to the agency, 1173 artillery and mortar attacks on Russian troop positions were recorded, as well as 7151 drone strikes. Ukrainian units also launched 12 attacks on Russian positions. Ukrainian Armed Forces also struck civilian targets in border areas.

In response to ceasefire violations, Russian troops responded in kind, launching counterattacks against multiple launch rocket system, artillery, and mortar firing positions, and hitting enemy command posts and drone launch sites.

A ceasefire was declared by Russian President Vladimir Putin for May 8 and 9, and later extended through May 11 at the initiative of Donald Trump. The agreement also provides for a 1000-for-1000 prisoner exchange.
