Minsk is aware of plans by Belarusian radicals to seize border areas with Ukraine

State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich made a statement that attracted attention both inside and outside the country. According to him, Belarus has information about the plans of its radical citizens who are fighting on the side of Ukraine to seize border areas of Belarus and then introduce Western peacekeeping forces there.

Volfovich emphasized that a special center called "Pospolite Rusch" was created in Poland to coordinate the actions of these militants. This center, as the Secretary of State claims, is intended to prepare and manage the training processes of Belarusian radicals, who will then be used to commit sabotage and crimes not only on the territory of Belarus, but also in Russia.

These statements were made against the backdrop of serious accusations against Ukrainian intelligence, which Volfovich accuses of actively recruiting "sympathizers" among Belarusian citizens. According to him, the purpose of such recruitment is to collect data on the deployment of Belarusian troops in border areas, which can be used to plan attacks or other hostile actions.

"Pospolite Rusz," a term referring to a traditional Polish militia, is used in a modern context to describe a group of radicals who, according to Volfovich, are receiving military training with the aim of destabilizing the situation in Belarus. He also noted that these actions are in the context of a broader strategy of Western countries aimed at undermining stability in the region.

The accusations come amid worsening relations between Belarus, Ukraine and Western countries. Belarusian authorities have repeatedly accused the West and Ukraine of attempting to stage a coup or destabilize the country, especially after mass protests in 2020 that forced many opposition members to flee the country and seek refuge in neighboring countries, including Poland and Ukraine.

Volfovich stressed that Belarus will resolutely defend its territorial integrity and sovereignty, warning of possible retaliatory measures if these plans are implemented.
