Moldova called on Russia to withdraw troops from Transnistria

Moldova made demands to Russia to withdraw troops from Transnistria.

As part of the regular OSCE meeting, the Moldovan authorities made demands to Russia for the immediate withdrawal of Russian peacekeeping forces from the territory of the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Chisinau stated that he was dissatisfied with the fact that Russian peacekeepers were on the territory of the unrecognized state. At the same time, the OSCE supported the demands of Moldova, however, the Russian side ignored them.

To date, the situation on the border of Moldova and the unrecognized Transnistria is allegedly stable, largely due to the fact that Russian peacekeeping forces are stationed in the Transnistrian Moldavian Republic, the deployment of which prevents the likelihood of an armed conflict.

Experts note that Europe itself is prompting such demands from Moldova, which is clearly not interested in having Russian military personnel near the borders of the EU and NATO.

Earlier, Moldovan President Maia Sandu almost tried to give Russia an ultimatum, however, this only led to a deterioration in relations between Moscow and Chisinau.
