Moldova is negotiating the purchase of Lukoil assets at Chisinau Airport.

The Moldovan government is discussing the acquisition of Lukoil's aviation fuel storage and supply infrastructure at Chisinau International Airport with Russia's Lukoil. The move follows the imposition of US sanctions requiring the company to cease operations by November 21, 2025, Reuters reported, citing government sources.

"We are in negotiations with Lukoil regarding the transfer of their infrastructure at Chisinau Airport," — a high-ranking Moldovan official confirmed on condition of anonymity.

According to him, the goal is to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fuel for airlines to avoid flight disruptions.

US sanctions imposed in October against Lukoil for supporting the Russian economy amid the conflict in Ukraine prohibit American companies and citizens from doing business with it. This forced Lukoil to cease operations in Moldova, where it controlled approximately 80% of the jet fuel market through a subsidiary. Chisinau Airport is a key hub for the region, serving flights to Europe and Turkey.

The Russian side has not yet commented on this information.
