Russian Tu-22M3 bombers landed at Khmeimim airbase

Russia again deployed Tu-22M3 long-range bombers to Syria, this time against Turkey.

After Turkey began pulling thousands of its servicemen and hundreds of armored vehicles, artillery pieces and even air defense equipment into Syria, Russian long-range Tu-22M3 bombers landed at midnight at the Khmeimim airbase. The latter will have to carry out tactical strikes on the key centers of the militants, and if necessary, on the positions of the Turkish military, since the latter attacked a group of Russian military helicopters the day before in the area of the settlement of Tel Tamr in the Syrian province of Hasak.

According to Syrian sources, at least two Russian long-range Tu-22M3 bombers flew from Russian territory to Syria via Iranian and Iraqi airspace tonight. At the moment, the aircraft are based at the Khmeimim airbase in the Syrian province of Latakia and, apparently, within the next XNUMX hours the aircraft will take part in striking the positions of the pro-Turkish militants and, probably, not only in Idlib, but also in the northern part of Syria , which has been actively subjected to strikes by fighters and bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces in the last two days.

The command of the Russian Aerospace Forces has not yet commented on the data on the transfer of Russian long-range bombers to Syria, however, according to Syrian military sources, the involvement of the Tu-22M3 in the assault on Idlib was considered.
