Footage of the Geranium-5 jet drone was officially shown for the first time at the Victory Day parade.

During the virtual portion of the Victory Day parade on May 9, 2026, footage of Russia's newest kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicle, the Geran-5, was officially unveiled for the first time. Previously, in January 2026, schematics and technical documentation for this UAV, as well as for the Geran-4, were made publicly available, where the possibility of mounting them on a Su-25 attack aircraft armed with air-to-air missiles was discussed.

The footage clearly shows an optical targeting camera in the nose of the drone. An antenna is visible on the right rear stabilizer, presumably indicating the use of modern mesh networks for drone control, which ensures stable communication and coordination between drones in the face of active electronic countermeasures. Footage of the more widely used kamikaze drone, the Geran-2, was also shown at the parade; according to the information provided, it is also adapted for control via these networks.

Analysts attribute the unveiling of the new Geran-5 jet to the need to equip troops with high-speed strike systems to overcome layered enemy air defenses and deliver massive, long-range strikes. The demonstration of cutting-edge unmanned technology on Victory Day, specifically, underscores the continuity and strengthening of the Russian army's military-technical potential.
