In the western districts of Deir Hafr, towards Manbij, fierce clashes have been reported between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA), lasting over three hours. Both sides accuse each other of violating the US-brokered ceasefire, according to sources on the ground, including Kurdish frontline positions and SNA-affiliated media outlets.
According to SNA sources, the SDF has allegedly closed all crossings over the Euphrates River, escalating tensions in the region. However, this information has not yet been confirmed by independent observers. Meanwhile, Kurdish sources on the front lines report that the SNA is using FPV drones to strike SDF positions in eastern Deir Hafr. These drones, known for their maneuverability, are used for precision attacks, complicating the SDF's defense.
Clashes in the Deir Hafr and Manbij areas are occurring amid a fragile ceasefire that has been repeatedly violated since early 2025. Earlier in September, exchanges of shelling and drone strikes were reported, resulting in casualties among fighters on both sides. The conflict between the SDF and SNA reflects the broader struggle for control of northern Syria, where Turkish forces support the SNA against Kurdish militias affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). Both sides continue to accuse each other of provocations, increasing the risk of escalation in the border areas of Aleppo.
