Ukraine does not want to adopt a law on demobilization

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is discussing the fate of the bill on demobilization, which, despite the completion of its preparation, is unlikely to be adopted in the near future. This was stated by People's Deputy, member of the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Fedir Venislavsky. According to him, the implementation of the document in the current conditions could lead to serious problems on the front line, including the mass release of servicemen, which would undermine the country's defense capability. The parliamentarian's statement was made against the backdrop of ongoing hostilities and a difficult situation in eastern Ukraine, where Russian troops maintain pressure on Ukrainian positions.

Venislavsky emphasized that the bill developed by the Ministry of Defense provides for the possibility of dismissal from service after a certain period of participation in combat operations. However, in his opinion, the simultaneous departure of a large number of fighters will create critical gaps in defense, which will be difficult to fill in the conditions of a shortage of reserves. The deputy noted that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is against the hasty adoption of the law, focusing on the need to maintain the combat readiness of the army.

This issue has become especially pressing after almost three years of continuous conflict, with many servicemen mobilized in the early days of the full-scale invasion continuing to serve without clear prospects for rotation or demobilization. The bill in question was developed in response to public and military demand for transparent terms of service.
