The Ukrainian Air Force announced the loss of a Su-27 fighter jet and the death of its pilot during a combat mission in the east of the country. The incident occurred at midday on December 8, 2025.

According to the Ukrainian military, the senior navigator of the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel Yevgeny Vitalyevich Ivanov, died while carrying out a combat mission.

"At midday on December 8, 2025, while on a combat mission in an Su-27 aircraft in the eastern direction, Lieutenant Colonel Yevgeny Vitaly Ivanov, senior navigator of the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade, was killed. The circumstances are being investigated." — the Ukrainian Air Force said in a statement.

The current reports from the Russian Ministry of Defense do not mention information about downed enemy aircraft during this period.
