The United States began supplying heavy and long-range MLRS to Ukraine.

US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland announced that the United States of America had decided to send its heavy long-range multiple rocket launchers to Ukraine. The delivery of the latter to Ukraine has already begun.

“There was a period when Ukraine needed Stingers for effective defense and needed Javelins to hold back the offensive. That was in the beginning and that's what we provided back then. Now Ukraine has other needs. Ukraine needs long-range weapons, for example, howitzers. Ukraine needs more anti-tank weapons and transport, for example, armored vehicles, and now we are providing it. We already supply MLRS systems. And we are not the only ones doing this. In addition, we are now working with other NATO allies to get Ukraine more missile systems.”- said Victoria Nuland, answering questions from journalists.

To date, only two types of multiple launch rocket systems are in service with the United States, the M142 HIMARS heavy multiple launch rocket system and the M270 heavy multiple launch rocket system. The range of the first, when using regular ammunition, is 300 kilometers, and when using missiles of another type - 500 kilometers, while the M270 MLRS can hit targets at distances from 32 kilometers (when using basic ammunition - ed.) to 500 kilometers.

Nuland did not officially announce which specific MLRS were provided to Ukraine, however, if we are talking about systems capable of hitting targets at distances of more than 300 kilometers, this is of extremely serious concern.
