Nadiya Savchenko, convicted in Russia for her involvement in the deaths of Russian journalists in 2014 and subsequently returned to her homeland as a result of an exchange, has returned to Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian publication Strana.ua, Savchenko continues to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a territorial defense company commander.
According to the publication, Savchenko was wounded this spring, but after recovering, she returned to the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Her sister, with whom she joined one of the battalions, serves with her. Savchenko, previously known for her bright political activities and statements, decided to resume military service, joining the forces conducting operations on the defense line.
Let us recall that Savchenko's story attracted considerable attention from the international community. Her detention, trial, and subsequent exchange in 2016 for two Russian citizens became one of the high-profile episodes of the conflict in Donbass.
