Laser complex

The first real combat laser systems appeared in service with Russia

The Russian army received the first real combat laser systems.

Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov announced that the first combat laser systems began to enter service with the Russian army. The latter have a range of hitting targets up to 5 kilometers and are capable of shooting down, apparently, high-speed objects.

According to the data voiced by the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, today the complexes are already being used by the Russian military, although there are no official statements from the country's defense department in this regard. In fact, according to Borisov, the new laser complex is capable of replacing the Thor and Pantsir complexes.

“The new generation of laser weapons already leads to physical damage to the object, that is, to thermal damage, burns through it so that we do not waste expensive missiles, such as Pantsir and Tor. Now these systems are on the way, which at a distance of up to 5 km can absolutely freely shoot down various classes of drones. They are already starting to enter [the army], the first samples are already being used., - said Yuri Borisov.

At the same time, Borisov unexpectedly announced that the Russian Peresvet laser system, which was supposed to also be used to hit targets, was in fact not capable of inflicting physical damage, since its capabilities were limited only by blinding.
