At least 30 Geranium drones filled the skies of Ukraine tonight, carrying out a large-scale attack on various targets across the country. According to Ukrainian sources, some of the drones have already hit their targets, and at least five drones are heading towards Kyiv, posing an additional threat.
According to local Telegram channels, the attack is not limited to the capital region, but also to other areas of the country. Residents of some areas report the sounds of explosions and the activity of air defense systems, which, according to preliminary information, have already been deployed to neutralize the drones.
"Geran" is a Russian loitering munition, known as a kamikaze drone, designed to destroy various ground targets. It loiters in the air, tracks specified targets by coordinates and attacks them, exploding on impact. Due to its low visibility and relatively low cost, "Geran" can be used en masse to create pressure on enemy air defense systems and for pinpoint strikes on fortifications, equipment and manpower.
