Serial production of ultra-long-range missiles for the S-500 "Prometheus" air defense system has begun

The production of ultra-long-range anti-aircraft missiles for the S-500 Prometey systems has begun in Russia.

The enterprises of the VKO Almaz-Antey concern have started serial production of ultra-long-range anti-aircraft guided missiles, which are used by the newest S-500 Prometey anti-aircraft missile system. We are talking not only about missiles, which, by analogy, are used by the S-400 "Triumph" complexes, but also about missiles that will be capable of hitting targets at distances of up to 600 kilometers. To date, these are the longest-range anti-aircraft guided missiles in the world.

"In accordance with the contract concluded at the end of 2020 between the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Almaz-Antey concern, production of serial rockets is underway, which in 2022 will enter the Aerospace Forces (VKS)"- said in the message.

Sami SAM S-500 "Prometheus" can be adopted by the country by the end of this year. Judging by the data on the testing of these systems, the systems managed to prove themselves, although the latter have to perform quite specific tasks, because the Prometheus is intended mainly to destroy ballistic missiles. In addition, there is information that ultra-long-range missiles can also hit enemy spacecraft, although the system still has the ability to hit enemy aircraft.
