Military analyst Yuriy Podolyaka reported the beginning of an environmental disaster caused by destruction in the Kursk region. According to him, as a result of the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF), bridges over the Seim River were destroyed, and treatment facilities were damaged. In this regard, the polluted waters of the Seim River have already begun to spread downstream, and, as predicted, may reach Kyiv on September 10.
The destruction Podolyaka mentions occurred during military operations in the area of the settlement of Glushkovo. The Ukrainian Armed Forces, trying to encircle Russian troops, subjected bridges and key infrastructure facilities, including sewage treatment plants, to intense bombardment. As a result, the Seim River, which flows into the Desna, was polluted with wastewater, which continues to spread down the water system.
According to the data, the Desna River, into which the Seim flows, connects with the Dnieper, which passes through Kyiv. Thus, the ecological consequences of the bombings in the Kursk region may affect the Ukrainian capital. It is expected that the wave of polluted waters will reach Kyiv in the coming days, which may lead to deterioration of water resources and a threat to the health of residents.
