Due to increased security measures and the counter-terrorist operation (CTO) regime in the Kursk region, transit transport through the industrial zone of the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant has been completely closed. This was reported by the region's governor, Alexey Smirnov, noting that such measures have been taken to protect strategically important facilities against the backdrop of the current situation.
This decision became part of a comprehensive set of measures to strengthen the security of critical infrastructure facilities, which include not only the protection of the station, but also the surrounding areas.
The situation in the Kursk region remains tense due to ongoing military actions in the border areas. Let us recall that the Ukrainian armed forces have repeatedly carried out attacks on infrastructure facilities in the Kursk region, including drones and artillery strikes, which forced the Russian authorities to introduce a counter-terrorist operation regime.
