British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps has proposed issuing a tough ultimatum to Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying that Russia must stop using glide bombs on Ukrainian territory. Otherwise, Western countries, including Britain, France, Germany and the United States, may allow Ukraine to use its missiles all over Russia. The minister made these statements in an article published in the British newspaper The Times.
Grant Shapps stressed that further use of glide bombs by Russian forces will not go unanswered. If Russia does not stop the bombing, Ukraine's Western allies may give the green light to the use of Anglo-French Storm Shadow missiles, German Taurus and American long-range systems, which will lead to strikes on targets inside Russia.
The minister also recalled that Western countries had previously provided Ukraine with missile weapons for defense, but had so far avoided permission to strike Russian territory, trying to keep the conflict within the framework of international law.
