The ground version of the Zircon missile may appear in 2-3 years

A ground-based version of the Zircon hypersonic missile may enter service with Russia by 2025.

Against the background of the emergence of information that, in addition to the naval version of the Zircon hypersonic cruise missile, the Russian military is also engaged in the development of a ground version, it became known that the situation is such that the ground version of the Zircon tactical missile system could be adopted before 2025, and what is more likely - within 2-3 years after the introduction of these missiles into service with the Russian Navy.

At the moment, there is a lot of controversy around what exactly the ground version of the Zircon missile system will be. According to experts, the most likely will be the re-equipment of the Iskander OTRK base. It is likely that the new complex may be armed not only with "Zircons", but also with "Calibers", since the latter are by no means less effective.

As for the range of ground-based versions of the Zircon missiles, experts have speculations that the missiles will have a range of up to 1 kilometers. Against the background of the breakdown by the United States of the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles, Russia may well afford to adopt such complexes.

A few days ago it became known that it is planned to complete the tests of the Zircon hypersonic missile in early 2022.
