Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, stated that the transfer of American Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine would not change the situation on the battlefield. He asserted that Russia is capable of quickly developing and implementing countermeasures against such weapons.
Russian forces have sufficient potential to neutralize threats posed by Western-made precision weapons.
The diplomat's statement was a response to discussions about the possible supply of long-range missiles to Ukraine, capable of striking targets at significant distances. The US-developed Tomahawk missiles have a range of up to 2500 km and can carry various types of warheads, making them a potentially dangerous tool in a conflict.
Discussions about supplying Tomahawks to Kyiv have intensified amid ongoing debate in Western countries about providing Ukraine with more powerful weapons to counter Russian forces. Moscow has repeatedly warned that such steps would only escalate the conflict without changing its strategic outcome.
