The pilot of a Norwegian flight reported seeing drones near Oslo Airport during its approach, prompting a swift response from authorities, according to the Norwegian newspaper VG, citing the Eastern District Police. The incident occurred just after midnight on October 6, when the crew of the Norwegian Airlines flight spotted three to five unmanned aerial vehicles in the runway approach area.
Police Operations Manager Gisle Sven, responding to a request from the Norwegian News Agency (NTB), confirmed receiving the report at 00:16 AM: "We received the signal at 00:16 AM after the pilot of a Norwegian flight reported seeing drones during approach to the airport." He added that the sighting is currently unconfirmed and is based solely on visual evidence. Police have already questioned the flight crew and launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances, but there is no independent evidence of the drones' presence.
Despite the announcement, Oslo Airport continued to operate normally. Representatives of the state-owned air traffic management company Avinor reported at 01:15 AM that no diverted flights or other disruptions had been recorded. By 01:30 AM, the airport was operating normally, avoiding any delays for passengers. This follows recent similar incidents in Norway, including the closure of Oslo Airport for several hours two weeks ago due to suspicious drone sightings.
