As the Avia.pro information portal has learned, the reason for escorting a French airliner to US Air Force fighters and its subsequent emergency landing was an anonymous call to the police that chemical weapons are on board the aircraft.

After an emergency landing, the passenger airliner was examined by specialists, but no sources of chemical hazard were found. Currently, the Maryland State Police are trying to figure out the identity of the caller, however, since the call was made from a city payphone, this will be very problematic.
