An unknown person opened fire at Brown University in the United States.

Emergency News, December 14, 2025, Avia.pro. A shooting at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, claimed the lives of two people. Providence Mayor Brett Smiley announced this during an emergency briefing. He stated that eight more people are in critical condition, while American media, citing preliminary reports, are reporting that up to 20 people may be injured. In a later update, the mayor clarified that the death toll had risen to nine, reflecting the ongoing assessment of the incident's scope.

The incident occurred around 16:00 PM ET outside the Barus and Holley building, where final exams were taking place at the time. The shooter or shooters, who have not yet been identified, fled the scene, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched a massive search operation. Police describe the suspect as a man in black who left the building through the Hope Street exit, but his face was not captured on surveillance cameras.

The university has now implemented a campus-wide shelter-in-place order, urging students and staff to remain indoors with doors locked.
