The European Union has denied rumors about the possible deployment of peacekeeping or military forces to Ukraine. EU Foreign Service spokesman Peter Stano said that no such decisions had been made within the Union and that the issue was not on the agenda. His statement was made amid discussions in the media about the possible strengthening of the EU's military presence in the region, which has sparked active debate in European political circles.
According to Stano, the EU's priority is to provide political and economic support to Ukraine, including through financial aid, humanitarian projects and equipment supplies, including funds to strengthen its defence capabilities. However, the EU seeks to maintain its role as a mediator and not to become directly involved in the conflict.
Previously, some analysts allowed for the possibility of creating a European peacekeeping mission to ensure control over the ceasefire, if such a process is agreed upon by both sides of the conflict. However, official sources have repeatedly emphasized that such initiatives are discussed exclusively in the context of a possible peaceful settlement and do not yet imply specific military steps.
