Cheboksary News, December 9, 2025, Avia.pro. Cheboksary residents reported explosions near the Thermal Power Plant No. 2 during a nighttime attack by Ukrainian drones. According to them, air defense systems fired in this very area, where the loudest explosions were heard. Preliminary estimates suggest the thermal power plant may have been the primary target of the strike, although official sources have not yet confirmed this.

The incident occurred on the night of December 9 in the Southwest District of the capital of Chuvashia. Debris from the downed drone fell on a residential building at 6 Ivan Yakovlev Avenue, damaging the façade, causing a fire, and collapsing balconies. Windows in a neighboring building were shattered, and several nearby cars were damaged. Four people, including a child, were injured in the incident and are receiving medical attention.

Vladimir Stepanov confirmed that the victims are receiving all necessary support. Police have cordoned off the area, and residents are being evacuated to School No. 20 at 8 Khuzangaya Street.
