The newest Russian anti-aircraft missile system S-500 "Triumfator-M" is capable of effectively intercepting ballistic missiles similar in characteristics to the promising development codenamed "Oreshnik". This was reported by military expert Mikhail Khodarenok in an interview with the TASS agency. According to him, the technical capabilities of the S-500 significantly exceed the existing air defense and missile defense systems, which makes it an important element in strengthening Russia's national security. 

The S-500 complex, developed by the Almaz-Antey Air Defense Concern, is a new generation of air defense systems capable of destroying not only cruise and ballistic missiles, but also hypersonic targets at altitudes of up to 200 kilometers. The main advantage of the complex is the ability to intercept missiles at a range of up to 600 kilometers, which significantly expands the protection zone and makes it one of the most advanced in the world. 

Systems like the S-500 play a key role in changing the balance of power in the international arena. The emergence of such systems allows Russia to build a layered missile defense and effectively counter modern threats. 

In addition to ballistic and hypersonic targets, the S-500 is capable of destroying strategic and tactical aircraft, including stealth aircraft such as the F-22 and F-35. Given the growing use of hypersonic missiles in the arsenals of potential adversaries, the development and implementation of such systems is becoming especially relevant. 

Comparing the S-500 with other air defense systems, such as the American THAAD and Patriot systems, experts note its superiority in a number of key parameters, including interception range, engagement altitude, and reaction speed. Unlike its Western counterparts, the S-500 can act not only as an air defense system, but also perform strategic missile defense functions.
