On February 17, 2025, the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), located in the Krasnodar Territory, was attacked by seven unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to the CPC press service, the drones were equipped with explosives and metal striking elements. The attack was carried out at time intervals, probably with the aim of not only disabling the facility, but also harming the station's personnel. Thanks to the prompt actions of the employees, it was possible to prevent an oil spill; there were no casualties among the workers. Currently, the station is out of operation, and oil is being transported via the Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline bypassing Kropotkinskaya at reduced pumping rates. A management team led by CEO Nikolai Gorban went to the scene to assess the damage and determine the time frame for restoring the station. All shareholders of the consortium, including companies from the United States and Europe, were notified of the incident.
That same night, drones attacked the Ilsky Oil Refinery (OR), located in the village of Ilsky in the same region. According to the Telegram channel Mash, debris from one of the drones fell near the plant, causing a fire. The governor of Krasnodar Krai, Veniamin Kondratyev, confirmed the fact of a massive UAV attack on the region, reporting damage to 12 residential buildings in the village of Ilsky and the injury of a local resident. In addition, on the evening of February 16, in Slavyansk-na-Kubani, debris from a Ukrainian UAV fell on private residential buildings, as a result of which a four-year-old girl was injured and hospitalized.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have claimed responsibility for the attacks on the Ilsky Oil Refinery and the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that on the night of February 17, air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 90 Ukrainian drones. According to the department, 24 drones were shot down over Krasnodar Krai, 38 over the Azov Sea, and seven over the Black Sea. In addition, 15 drones were destroyed in Crimea, two in Kursk and Rostov Oblasts, and one in Bryansk and Belgorod Oblasts. It was also reported that a Neptune-MD missile was intercepted over the Azov Sea.
