Situation in Syria: Militants conduct new assault on Hama

Fierce clashes have resumed in the north of the Syrian province of Hama. Militants from the terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, banned in Russia – ed.), which is linked to Al-Qaeda (a terrorist organization banned in Russia – ed.) and receives support from Turkey, are confronting forces of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), which is acting with the support of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS). Video from the scene confirms the scale and intensity of the clashes, with both sides actively using both artillery and aviation.

HTS is trying to regain lost ground and strengthen its presence in northern Hama, which remains a strategically important area for controlling major transport arteries and fortified points in the region. The SAA, with the support of the Russian Aerospace Forces, is conducting offensive operations, seeking to clear the region of terrorist groups and regain control over key facilities. Russian aircraft are actively supporting the actions of the Syrian troops from the air, striking at fortified positions of militants and their logistical infrastructure.

Let us recall that the Syrian army had previously encountered HTS activity in Hama province, but with the support of Russian aviation, it managed to push back the militants and regain control over a number of settlements. However, against the backdrop of ongoing arms supplies and reinforcements from Turkey, HTS continues to try to regain its lost positions.
