On the morning of June 10, 2025, law enforcement agencies conducted searches in Pskov in the apartment of the deputy chairman of the Yabloko party Lev Schlosberg (included in the list of foreign agents). According to the state television channel RT, the actions of law enforcement officers are related to a criminal case initiated under Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on repeated discrediting of the Armed Forces of Russia. According to the channel, the basis for the case was Schlosberg's post on social networks related to his activities after a fine was imposed in July 2024 for reposting an appeal by actor Arnold Schwarzenegger to Russians. At that time, the politician was fined 30 thousand rubles, and now he faces up to three years in prison.
The searches at Shlosberg's place were yet another episode of pressure on opposition politicians in Russia. Earlier, in 2023, a criminal case was opened against him under the article on evading the duties of a foreign agent (Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Shlosberg, who was included in the register of foreign agents in 2022, was required to label his publications, but, according to investigators, he repeatedly violated this requirement. At the time of the searches, the politician was under a written undertaking not to leave the country, which did not prevent him from continuing his active public activities, including criticism of the authorities.
