On the night of November 5, a series of at least three powerful explosions rocked Orel, caused by air defense systems targeting Ukrainian drones. Local residents reported the explosions around 2:00 a.m., intermittently, in different parts of the city.

"Around 2 a.m., at least three loud explosions were heard in different parts of the city. Bright flashes in the sky were also reported. The loud sounds "made the walls of the houses shake."" — eyewitnesses said

Preliminary reports indicate the attack may have targeted the Oryol Thermal Power Plant, located on the outskirts of the region. Governor Andrei Klychkov confirmed the attack was repelled but did not disclose details of the aftermath. No casualties or significant damage were reported. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported the destruction of several UAVs over the region as part of a broader wave of attacks.
