Residents of Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, reported an explosion and fire at the Nizhnekamskneftekhim petrochemical plant, part of the Sibur holding company. According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred in the industrial zone where a styrene and polyester resin production unit is located.

The explosion is believed to have occurred near the catalytic cracking, hydrocracking, or reforming units. The plant specializes in the production of synthetic rubbers, plastics, and olefin-based petrochemicals, including polyesters, glycols, and glycol ethers.

The drone attack on the facility has not been confirmed by official sources. Emergency services are working at the scene, but there is no information yet on casualties or the extent of the damage.
