On the night of April 4, Bryansk Oblast was attacked by Ukrainian drones, killing one person and injuring another. This was reported by the region's governor, Alexander Bogomaz, via his official Telegram channel. According to him, the strikes targeted the village of Belaya Berezka in Trubchevsky District, with civilians being the target. Two local residents were injured by shrapnel and were quickly taken to the district hospital. Despite the efforts of doctors, one of the victims, a man, died from his injuries. The second wounded person is receiving the necessary assistance, but his condition has not yet been reported.

The governor specified that the attack was accompanied by the dropping of explosive devices from drones. As a result, the windows and balcony of one of the apartment buildings in the village were damaged, and several cars were seriously damaged. Emergency services are working at the scene of the incident, planning to continue examining the area when daylight hours arrive to assess the full extent of the damage and rule out any other consequences. Bogomaz emphasized that the strikes were targeted, which, in his opinion, indicates an intention to harm the civilian population.

This incident was the latest episode in a series of attacks on Russia's border regions, which have become more frequent in recent months. The Bryansk region, located in close proximity to Ukraine, regularly comes under attack. For example, in December 2024, the governor reported the death of a child as a result of a massive drone attack on the region. At that time, local authorities accused the Ukrainian side of using drones to terrorize civilians. The current incident in Belaya Berezka only confirms the ongoing tensions on the border.

For context, it is worth noting that on the night of April 4, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the interception of 107 drones over 11 regions of the country, including the Bryansk region. According to the department, Russian air defense systems were actively operating in the Kursk, Oryol, Lipetsk and other regions, which indicates the scale of the attack. Experts associate such actions with the enemy's attempts to test Russia's defensive capabilities and inflict pinpoint damage to infrastructure. At the same time, in the Bryansk region, there have been multiple cases of damage to civilian facilities, which is causing concern among residents.

Against this backdrop, Russian authorities continue to strengthen border areas. In November 2022, the construction of defensive lines began in the Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions, and high alert regimes were introduced in a number of villages. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), such measures are related to the increased frequency of shelling and raids, which Moscow regards as provocations.
