An Armenian officer was killed in a new clash on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Despite the statements of Azerbaijan that the situation on the border with Armenia remains relatively calm, it became known that a group of soldiers from Azerbaijan that entered the territory of neighboring Armenia attacked a group of Armenian military personnel. It is known that as a result of the ensuing firefight, an Armenian officer was wounded and later died.

“Gagik Samvel Alaverdyan, born in 1983, a contract soldier of the military unit of the RA Armed Forces, was mortally wounded as a result of the provocation of the Azerbaijani armed forces on the Yeraskh section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on the morning of July 14. The RA Ministry of Defense shares the bitterness of the loss, expresses support to the family members, relatives and colleagues of the deceased soldier ", - said in the message of the Armenian information publication "Times".

The circumstances of the incident were not officially disclosed, however, according to some reports, the shootout began after the Armenian military tried to prevent the presence of the Azerbaijani military on the territory of Armenia.

It is known that today the Russian military is also engaged in ensuring security in the region, but there is no information about the presence of the latter in the region during the incident.
