The UN has asked Moscow for access to the Kursk region

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has asked Moscow to provide access to the Kursk region to verify reports of possible human rights violations. According to information received from RIA Novosti, the UN expresses concern about the situation in the region, where, according to reports, the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired at civilians.

Representatives of the Department stated that without the possibility of direct access to the Kursk region, it is extremely difficult to collect objective information about what is happening. Therefore, the organization is officially requesting permission from Russia to visit the region to assess the situation and obtain additional data.

The access request stems from numerous reports that the Ukrainian military targeted civilian targets in the Kursk region, which could lead to human rights violations.
