Published a photo of the repainted MiG-29SM, "directed" to Libya

A photo of the repainted Russian MiG-29 aimed at Libya appeared on the web.

A number of Arab informational resources are distributing a photograph of the MiG-29SM fighter, which is supposedly a Russian military aerospace aircraft repainted at the Khmeimim airbase and subsequently sent to Libya for the army of Khalifa Haftar. This fact allegedly confirms that the identification marks were forcibly removed from the aircraft, although to date there is no evidence on this score either from the Libyan National Army, or from the Syrian military, or from Russia.

In the presented photograph, it is really possible to identify the MiG-29SM fighter, which does not have any identification marks. Nevertheless, given the fact that we are talking about the version of the MiG-29SM, this refutes the version that the combat aircraft were delivered from Belarus, which did not have such options for a combat aircraft.

Experts also drew attention to the fact that in the background you can recognize the flag of Syria, and the plane itself is surrounded by protective structures in case of possible attacks - such were previously seen only at the Khmeimim airbase, which raises many questions as to whether it is really about Russian combat aircraft. On the other hand, the SAR is also armed with MiG-29SMT fighters, which does not exclude the version that the photograph shows the Syrian Air Force fighter, possibly undergoing repairs at the Khmeimim airbase.

It should be clarified that earlier the United States openly accused Russia of transferring its fighters and bombers to Libya by publishing the relevant photos, however, Russia categorically denied these data.
