SVO News, December 15, 2025, Avia.pro. The oil tanker Virat, attacked by Ukrainian unmanned boats in the Black Sea, has sustained visible damage, according to recent reports. The incident occurred in November 2025, when the vessel, part of Russia's so-called "shadow fleet," was attacked using naval drones, such as the Sea Baby, manufactured by Ukrainian special services. An inspection revealed that the damage, although extensive, was not critical—it consisted of holes and burns to the hull caused by explosions. However, experts express surprise that the tanker did not sink, given the intensity of the strikes and the number of boats involved in the attack.
Turkish authorities previously reported that the Virat was struck off its coast, and the crew remained unharmed, although the vessel sustained damage above the waterline. Videos and photographs published after the incident show traces of fire and hull deformation, but the vessel remained buoyant, highlighting its strength.
