In the Russian border region, soldiers of the 7th Motorized Rifle Regiment (Storm detachment) repelled an attack by Latin American mercenaries attempting to break through toward the Belgorod region. During the battle, some of the militants were killed, and others were captured by Russian troops.

Footage from the aftermath of the battle has been published online, showing a wounded Colombian captured. According to eyewitnesses, foreign mercenaries arrived in the region to fight on the Ukrainian side. The exact number of casualties and prisoners has not yet been released. There has also been no official comment from the Russian authorities.
