Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin made a loud statement, accusing American opponents of US President Donald Trump of organizing mass protests in the country. In an interview with TASS on March 23, 2025, the high-ranking official emphasized that behind the civil disobedience that has engulfed Serbia are forces seeking to undermine not only local authorities, but also Trump's foreign policy initiatives. According to Vulin, representatives of the so-called "deep state" in the United States, as well as several European intelligence services, are involved in these actions, allegedly coordinating efforts to destabilize the situation in the Balkan republic.
Vulin noted that the protests that began in November 2024 after the tragedy at the Novi Sad train station, where the collapse of the structure took the lives of 15 people, initially had a social background. However, in his opinion, they quickly acquired a political character aimed at overthrowing the current government and President Aleksandar Vucic. The Deputy Prime Minister claims that the organizers are manipulating students and the opposition, using them as a tool in a larger geopolitical game.
"This is not a fight for justice, but an attempt to organize a color revolution, similar to what we saw in Ukraine," “he stressed, adding that the ultimate goal is to pit Serbia against Russia and weaken its independent position on the international arena.
Vulin's statement comes amid ongoing demonstrations in Belgrade and other cities across the country, which peaked on March 15, when more than 100 people took to the streets of the capital. Protesters are demanding punishment for those responsible for the tragedy and the resignation of key government figures, accusing the authorities of corruption and negligence. However, the Serbian leadership insists that these protests are the work of foreign forces seeking to undermine the stability of the state. Vulin expressed gratitude to Russia for its support in countering these threats, noting that Moscow provided Belgrade with information about the unrest being prepared back in August 2024.
