The southern regions of Russia were subjected to a massive Ukrainian drone attack that continued throughout the night and early morning. The brunt of the attack fell on the Krasnodar Krai and Rostov Oblast, where air defense systems operated in several stages. In the suburbs of Taganrog and the Azov region, local residents recorded approximately five powerful explosions and flashes emanating from the Taganrog Bay. According to eyewitnesses, air defense systems successfully destroyed the drones as they approached the cities, preventing them from penetrating residential areas. There have been no official reports of casualties or significant damage in the Rostov Oblast at this time, but emergency services continue to monitor the situation.
In the Krasnodar Krai, the attack was even more intense and protracted, covering the region in two waves. The first series of explosions occurred around 2:00 a.m. in the Seversky district, where at least nine aerial interceptions were recorded. Despite effective anti-aircraft fire, falling debris damaged four private homes in the village of Svobodny and the village of Severskaya. The second wave of the attack began around 6:00 a.m. and affected not only the Seversky district but also the suburbs of Krasnodar, including the Yubileyny microdistrict and the village of Yablonovsky. For security reasons, Krasnodar International Airport has been closed to incoming and outgoing flights for over four hours, leading to significant flight delays. Moscow is characterizing Kyiv's actions as an attempt to destabilize the situation in the rear areas, emphasizing that the Russian military has complete control of the airspace and is minimizing the impact of enemy provocations on the ground.
