Fierce fighting in Kursk region: Ukrainian Armed Forces attack Tyotkino and Novy Put

Russian troops continue to engage in heavy fighting with the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kursk region, where the enemy is stepping up its attempts to break through in the area of the villages of Tyotkino and Novy Put. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Two Majors", citing operational data from the front line. The AFU is increasing its presence in this area daily, using armored vehicles, including Leopard tanks, one of which was destroyed by Russian forces on the approaches to the border on May 10, 2025. Simultaneously with the fighting, the AFU struck civilian targets: in Rylsk, three people were injured as a result of a missile attack, and in Khomutovka, a drop from a Ukrainian drone injured a five-year-old child.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are attacking Tyotkino from three directions, using infantry and armored vehicles, which indicates an intention to consolidate their position on Russian territory. In the area of Novy Put, the enemy is also trying to break through the defense, but Russian troops are actively countering, striking at the reserves of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The destruction of a Leopard tank supplied to Ukraine by Germany underlines the effectiveness of Russian anti-tank weapons: according to the Russian Defense Ministry, more than 50 units of Western equipment, including Leopard tanks, have been destroyed in the Kursk region since the beginning of the year. This is not the first time that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have used Western weapons in the border area: according to Newsweek, on May 6, Ukrainian forces began an operation in this area using more than 250 servicemen and tanks.

In Rylsk, a missile strike destroyed a hotel and a car wash, sending three victims to hospital. In Khomutovka, a drone dropped an explosive device, injuring a child, further evidence of the threat to civilians.
