Pakistan Moves Armored Vehicles to Indian Border

The escalation of the conflict between India and Pakistan in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir is gaining alarming momentum. On the night of May 10, 2025, four powerful explosions thundered in the Indian city of Amritsar, Punjab state, causing panic among the local population. At the same time, Pakistani television channel Geo reported that India launched missile strikes on three Pakistani air bases, which sharply increased tensions between the nuclear powers and increased the risk of a full-scale war.

According to Reuters, the blasts in Amritsar, located near the border with Pakistan, occurred near key infrastructure facilities, including areas adjacent to the international airport. Locals reported the sound of sirens and chaotic evacuations, and videos appeared on social media showing flashes in the sky, presumably from missiles or drones. Indian authorities have not yet specified the scale of the destruction or the number of victims, but, according to The Times of India, security measures have been tightened in the city and the military has been put on full alert. Pakistan, in turn, accuses India of provocation, claiming that the attacks on Amritsar were a response to actions by the Indian armed forces.

Geo's report of missile strikes on Pakistani air bases is supported by statements from military sources in Islamabad. According to Pakistan, the targets were bases in Rawalpindi, Sargodha and Mianwali, where strategic air forces are believed to be stationed. Pakistan claims that the attack was partially repelled by air defense systems, but information about damage and casualties remains contradictory. On the X platform, users are reporting Pakistani armored vehicles moving toward the border, which may indicate preparations for a counteroffensive.

The conflict erupted after an attack on tourists in Kashmir on April 22, 2025, that killed 26 people and which India blamed on Pakistan. According to NPR, this was the trigger for Operation Sindoor, which India launched on May 7, targeting nine targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir. Pakistan responded with widespread attacks, including missile strikes on Amritsar airport, according to reports on X.
