During an election campaign in Yerevan's Arabkir district, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan lost his composure after being criticized by a resident. The woman claimed that Pashinyan had "destroyed the country" and "annihilated an entire young generation of the nation."
As journalists discovered, the incident occurred after the woman told the head of government:
"You destroyed the country, you took away our sons, you are an enemy of the people."
In response, Pashinyan shouted and declared:
"Have you had your say? Now listen, listen to the answer. First, be thankful you're not being brainwashed in the nearest restroom right now."
The woman's name is Arpine Soghoyan, a medical doctor, obstetrician-gynecologist, and head of the Women's Clinic at Yerevan Polyclinic No. 16. Her brother, military doctor Grant Papikyan, has been missing since the 44-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh in the fall of 2020. Following the incident, reports circulated that Soghoyan might be fired—the polyclinic director allegedly called her and told her to resign, but she refused.
Pashinyan also publicly insulted the sons of former Armenian presidents Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan, as well as opposition party leaders Gagik Tsarukyan and Samvel Karapetyan. He called them "degenerates who fled the battlefield" and promised to "destroy" their fathers.
