Pensioner Dies in Rostov Region as a Result of Ukrainian Drone Attack

On the night of July 4, 2025, Rostov Oblast was attacked by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which killed a female pensioner and left thousands of residents without electricity. This was reported by the acting governor of the region, Yuri Slyusar, on his Telegram channel. The attack affected several districts of the region, including Millerovo, Azovsky, and Tarasovsky, and was part of a wider wave of drone strikes in Russian regions, as evidenced by data from the Russian Defense Ministry and messages on social media.

According to Yuriy Slyusar, a two-story apartment building was destroyed in the village of Dolotinka in the Millerovsky District due to falling drone debris. The collapse of the floor slab resulted in the death of an elderly woman. The exact circumstances of her death are being clarified. The acting governor expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and assured that the victims would be provided with the necessary assistance.

In addition, in the city of Shakhty, an electrical substation was damaged as a result of the attack, which led to a power outage in 1900 private homes. Power engineers have already begun restoration work, and backup power sources have been used for social facilities in the affected areas. In Azov, the blast wave from the downed UAV knocked out windows in an apartment building, but there are no reports of casualties in this area yet.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that on the night of July 4, air defense forces destroyed and intercepted 48 Ukrainian fixed-wing UAVs, of which 26 were shot down over the Rostov region. The attack also affected the Kursk, Belgorod, Oryol and Lipetsk regions, but the main blows fell on the Rostov region.
